Long term role, potentially permanent position
We are looking for a caring, experienced and reliable Healthcare Worker to join a supportive team within a specialist school for children and young people with complex special educational needs (SEN).
This is a non-classroom-based role, working closely with pupils and the wider school team to provide high-quality personal and healthcare support throughout the school day.
The role will include:
Supporting pupils with personal care, dignity and wellbeing.
Assisting with lifting, moving and handling in line with individual care plans and training.
Supporting pupils with feeding and drinking, where required.
Providing one-to-one and individualised care and support.
Supporting pupils with complex physical and medical needs.
Monitoring pupils’ wellbeing and communicating any concerns appropriately.
Working closely with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists and other healthcare professionals.
Following individual healthcare, moving and handling and safeguarding procedures.
Helping pupils to feel safe, comfortable, respected and included throughout the school day.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working in healthcare, care, SEN or a similar support setting.
Is confident supporting individuals with complex needs.
Has experience with personal care, moving and handling and/or feeding.
Is patient, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
Understands the importance of dignity, confidentiality and safeguarding.
Is reliable, calm and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Is willing to follow school policies, care plans and relevant training.
Previous experience within an SEN, complex needs or specialist education setting would be highly desirable.
