How does the assignment process work?

Each morning between 6:45am and 10:00am our coordinators match available Express educators with schools that need same-day cover. You’ll receive a push notification and email with the school name, location, role and start time. If we don’t place you that day, you still get paid your guaranteed day rate.

How quickly do I need to confirm an Express Job?

You have 5 minutes from the moment you receive the notification to accept and confirm the job in the Humly app. This window is what allows us to guarantee schools cover before the bell rings, so fast confirmations are essential.

What happens if I miss the 5-minute confirmation window?

If a job goes unconfirmed, we’ll reassign it to the next available educator so the school isn’t left short. Repeatedly missing confirmations may affect your standing in the Express pool, so please only opt in for days you’re genuinely available.

Will I really get paid even if I’m not assigned a job?

Yes. As long as you’re available and ready to work between 6:45am and 10:00am, you’ll be paid the agreed full day rate even if no school needs cover. That’s the core promise of Express Jobs.

How is the Express day rate calculated and when do I get paid?

Your Express rate matches the standard full-day rate for your role and location. Pay is processed on Humly’s normal weekly payroll cycle, the same as any other booking, so there’s no separate process to track.

Can I cancel an Express commitment?

Accepted Answer

You can opt out of any upcoming Express day before 6:00pm the night before with no impact. Same-morning cancellations should be reserved for genuine emergencies (illness, family issues), as schools are relying on us to deliver cover within minutes.

What if a school cancels after I’ve confirmed?

If you’ve confirmed an Express Job and the school cancels on the day, you’ll still be paid the full day rate. Your availability is what we’ve booked, not a specific assignment.

Apply to join Humly first. Once you’re onboarded and fully compliant, your local coordinator will invite you to opt in to Express days that suit your schedule.
