    Overview

    A specialist SEN College in Southwark is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Lecturer to join their team. The college supports learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and a range of complex needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by delivering personalised learning programmes that help students develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.

    Age Range: 16–25 years

    Contract: Monday to Thursday 8:45am To 4:30PM

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging lessons tailored to learners with ASD, PMLD and complex needs.

    • Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and contribute to EHCP reviews.

    • Create and maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

    • Use sensory-based, therapeutic and assistive communication approaches to enhance engagement.

    • Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and families.

    • Lead and mentor Learning Support Assistants to promote high-quality practice.

    Candidate Profile

    • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, DTLLS, or another recognised FE teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).

    • Experience teaching or supporting learners with ASD, PMLD or complex needs (Post-16 or FE experience preferred).

    • Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton, PECS or AAC.

    • Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.

    • A caring, resilient and creative approach with a genuine passion for SEN education.

    Successful applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate. Full support will be provided throughout the process.
