<h2 class="">Overview</h2><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">A specialist SEN College in Southwark is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Lecturer to join their team. The college supports learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and a range of complex needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by delivering personalised learning programmes that help students develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.</p><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed"></p><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed"><strong>Age Range: </strong>16–25 years</p><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed"><strong>Contract: </strong>Monday to Thursday 8:45am To 4:30PM</p><h2 class="">Key Responsibilities</h2><ul class="list-disc pl-6 space-y-1"><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging lessons tailored to learners with ASD, PMLD and complex needs.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and contribute to EHCP reviews.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Create and maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Use sensory-based, therapeutic and assistive communication approaches to enhance engagement.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and families.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Lead and mentor Learning Support Assistants to promote high-quality practice.</p></li></ul><h2 class="">Candidate Profile</h2><ul class="list-disc pl-6 space-y-1"><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">QTS, QTLS, PGCE, DTLLS, or another recognised FE teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Experience teaching or supporting learners with ASD, PMLD or complex needs (Post-16 or FE experience preferred).</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton, PECS or AAC.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.</p></li><li><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed">A caring, resilient and creative approach with a genuine passion for SEN education.</p></li></ul><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed"></p><p class="text-sm leading-relaxed"><strong>Successful applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate.
