Holidays during term time
A parent or carer may only take their child out of class during term time if they have submitted an application in advance or if exceptional circumstances have arisen. The Department for Education states they must get permission from the headteacher of their child’s school to do so.
Taking a child on holiday during term time without permission can result in a fine, and the headteacher determines how many days a child can be absent from school.
